Abstract
The paper provides new insight on the choice of correct space group for description of scapolite crystal structures, with a view of the preferred positions by Si and Al ions and their framework ordering. Samples of scapolite from a skarn zone around Urdini lakes, Northwestern Rila have been analysed with SEM-EDS and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The obtained value for the meionite component Me) is around 70. The crystal structure of the studied sample has been refined in the tetragonal I4/m and P42/n space groups, traditionally assigned to scapolite members. In addition, structural determination has been conducted in C2/m.
