Abstract
Abstract The title compound was prepared from the corresponding Z- (i.e. cis-) configurated stilbene-like olefin, by an osmium-catalyzed dihydroxylation reaction. It crystallizes from chloroform/petroleum ether monoclinically in the space group P21/a with a = 2282.2(9), b = 517.9(2), c = 772.8(2) pm and β = 93.25(2)°.
