Abstract

In the title tetranuclear compound, [Cu4OCl6(1,4-dioxane)4], the central oxygen atom is tetrahedrally coordinated to four Cu atoms. Each Cu atom is connected to three others via bridging Cl atoms. The Cu atom has a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environment, with three Cl atoms in the equatorial plane, and with the μ4-O atom and the O atom of a 1,4-dioxane ligand at axial positions. The intermolecular hydrogen bonds involve H2O, CH3OH and the coordinated and uncoordinated O atom of a 1,4-dioxane ligand.
