Abstract
Protonation of [Os 3(CO) 12] occurs readily in anhydrous HF; the addition of WF 6 gives a route to the title compound, [HOs 3(CO) 12][W 2O 2F 9], which forms as triclinic crystals. The anion is a fluoride-bridged dimer, whilst the bridging hydride ligand in the carbonyl cluster cation has been located by difference Fourier techniques and the geometry of the carbonyl ligands.
