Abstract

Abstract Crystal structure, infrared (IR) spectroscopic characterization and electrical property of double perovskite Sr 2 CoSbO 6 were investigated. The polycrystalline double perovskite Sr 2 CoSbO 6 was prepared with standard solid-state reaction method in air, characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and IR spectroscopy. The room-temperature structure was determined by the Rietveld method using XRD data. The result shows that the structure is not rhombohedral as was previously reported. It is monoclinic (space group P2 1 /n) with a =5.5822(1) A, b =5.6011(1) A, c =7.8981(1) A, and β =89.839(1)°. The refined Co–O and Sb–O average bond lengths are 2.01 and 1.99 A, respectively. The valence states of cobalt and antimony are likely to be Co(III) and Sb(V) in Sr 2 CoSbO 6 .
