Abstract

Dependence of the phase conjugate signal in photorefractive four-wave mixing on the crystal orientation and the polarization of the interacting beams is experimentally studied for semiconductor crystals of symmetry group 4 3 m, such as the holographic (110) cut GaAs:EL2 and the (111) cut InP:Fe. Both parallel- and cross-polarization couplings have been observed by rotating the crystal around its surface normal. Results are compared with the two-wave mixing measurements. Analytical solutions of the coupled wave equations for different polarization directions of the phase conjugate signal are derived under the undepleted pump approximation and compared with the experimental data.
