Abstract

Single crystals of 4-cyanophenyl p-anisate (CPA), an organic nonlinear optical material, have been prepared. The crystal structure of CPA has been determined and found to belongs to the non-centrosymmetric space group P212121. The second-order nonlinear optical coefficient (d) was estimated using the oriented gas model with the crystal structure, and the d14 of CPA was obtained to be 26 pm/V.
