Abstract
Single crystals of Mn 2.47V 0.94Mo 1.06O 8 were grown in a MnO/V 2O 5/MoO 3 melt under a nitrogen atmosphere (orthorhombic, space group Pnma (No. 62), a=5.167(2) Å, b=10.580(3) Å, c=17.868(4) Å, and Z=6). The crystallization, composition, and quality of the crystals were largely influenced by the composition of the melt, temperature and the oxygen partial pressure.
