Abstract
Nowadays, yellow laser has been attractive worldwide since its various applications. Dysprosium (Dy3+) is one of the most suitable lanthanide ions for directly producing yellow laser emission, but it suffers from low cross-sections and cross-relaxation processes. Herein, the co-doped 0.5% Ce3+/1% Dy3+:CaYAlO4 (CYA) crystal with high optical quality was successfully grown using the Czochralski (Cz) method in a reducing H2/Ar atmosphere. Spectroscopic properties, including polarized absorption, emission cross-sections, and lifetime, were characterized. Ce3+ co-dopant was used as a sensitizer to enhance the fluorescence properties of Dy3+.
