Abstract
Crystal-field splitting of praseodymium is observed in the dilute system (Pr x La 1− x )Ru 2Si 2 ( x ⩽ 0.10). The magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements show a large uniaxial magnetic anisotropy. The specific-heat measurement shows the Schottky anomaly and no enhancement for the γ value. These experimental results in the whole measured temperature and magnetic-field range are well explained by the singlet-singlet crystal-field model with the crystal-field splitting of20 ± 1K.
