Abstract

Abstract Inelastic neutron scattering (INS) experiments on R(Fe 11 Ti) and R(Fe 11 Ti)N 1 − δ (R  Gd and Er) have measured the level scheme of low lying states within the rare earth ground state multiplet (GSM). Transition energies and intensities were fitted with respect to the crystal and exchange field parameters to determine the effects of interstitial modification on the main terms in the rare earth Hamiltonian. The B 6 0 〈 O 6 0 〉 term is found to be dominant.
