Abstract

Me 2SbSbMe 2 reacts with Me 2P(S)SSP(S)Me 2 under argon to give a complex mixture of compounds from which crystals of Me 2SbS 2PMe 2, suitable for X-ray diffraction studies, were isolated. The structure contains Me 2SbS 2PMe 2 units associated into infinite polymeric chains, through intermolecular, secondary bonds. The dithiophosphinato ligand can be described either as bimetallic biconnective [intramolecular Sb(1c)S(1c) 2.555(2) Å, and intermolecular S(2c)⋯Sb(1a) 3.158(2) Å] or bimetallic triconnective [if the weak intramolecular Sb(1c)·S(2c) contact of 3.822(2) Å is considered].
