Abstract

The crystal and magnetic structure of the Mn3Pd5 phase, occurring after long annealing below 500°C, was determined by neutron diffraction method. The crystal structure is of orthorhombic Ga3Pt5 type with the space group Cmmm. The magnetic structure is ferrimagnetic, the magnetic moments of Mn on sites (2a) and (4h) being coupled antiparallel and pointing in the direction of axis c. The Curie temperature was found to be 260±10°C.
