Abstract

A micromethod for the determination of tissue osmolality is described. In essence it consists of ultracentrifugation of tissue and cryoscopic analysis of osmolarity of the supernatant in a nanoliter osmometer. The method was applied to renal cortical and medullary tissues in rats with and without Diabetes insipidus, and in dogs.
