Abstract

This is an annotated data management plan (DMP) template for a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) data sharing plan. This document (available in .pdf and .docx formats) was created using the DMPonline tool, which provides templates for structuring major research funders' DMPs. The document includes the guidance text provided in the tool, produced by the Digital Curation Centre (DCC), CRUK and the University of Sheffield Library. A data sharing plan is generally required when applying for CRUK funding. CRUK list eight themes that should be considered, but no page limit is noted. The format of this plan depends on the committee you are applying to:Applicants to the Science Committee and Clinical Research Committee will be asked to complete a short free text data sharing plan when applying through the electronic grant management system (eGMS). A more detailed plan will be required if the application is successful.Applicants to the Population Research Committee must upload a full data sharing plan based on the formally structured template as an appendix to their eGMS application. For further guidance, see the CRUK webpages on Submission of a data sharing and preservation strategy and Practical guidance for researchers on writing data sharing plans. The DCC also provides guidance on Data management Plans and How to Develop a Data Management and Sharing Plan.
