Abstract
Abstract This chapter examines the complexity of global cruise ship supply chain management (SCM) through a field study of a Florida-based cruise company's practices in re-supplying ships globally. The study focused on three main goals: describing the key components of a cruise ship supply chain and the key characteristics of the suppliers involved; assessing, through a feasibility study, the viability of new technologies in this complex global supply chain and providing insight into how technologies can improve supply chain efficiency; and investigating how the relationship between the cruise line and its hundreds of suppliers affects the supply chain. Through field observations and semi-structured interviews, key features of the supply chain and the suppliers were uncovered and best practices identified.
