Abstract
Any rotating machine has at least one rotating element, which can be a rotor of an electric motor or a turbine, compressor, or pump and is supported by the sleeve bearings or rollingelement bearings. The reliable operation of rotating machinery can be critical for bottom-line production goals and financial results in petrochemical, transportation, and chemical products processing. Lubrication performs a crucial role in the reliable operation of rotating machines. This article will discuss the different types of lubricants, their properties, proper methods of lubrication, appropriate frequency, and consequences of not adhering to the proper maintenance processes.
