Abstract
From services by a sole provider of satellite communications little more than two decades ago, the Asia-Pacific is now inundated with existing and planned geostationary satellites. This article looks at, among other things, the regulations regarding placement of satellites in orbital positions; various satellite systems and their services in the Asia-Pacific region; and the problems facing those who intend to claim a slot in this geostationary ‘land rush’.
