Abstract

Reasonable and effective crowd behavior simulation is of importance to public safety. As a source of individuals' internal motivation, curiosity exerts a great influence on crowd and individual behavior. However, there are few simulation models of curiosity in current research. This paper proposes a crowd behavior simulation model based on some psychological research, which allows people driven by curiosity to behave differently. We establish the relationship between cognitive degree and curiosity based on information gap theory. Then we establish individual's cognitive degree model while considering the relevancy between individual and incident and individual's curiosity coefficient. We also model the incident related to curiosity, whose influence radius of incident is related to crowd gathering number. And we improve the social force model as the movement model, associate the expected speed in social force model with the level of curiosity. To the best of our knowledge, our model is the first crowd simulation model about curiosity base on psychological research. The experimental results show that our model could simulate crowd gathering and dispersing behaviors well.
