Abstract
In January 1993, we were planning data acquisition to better characterize a carbonate reservoir in a major offshore oil field (Figure 1). The southern Arabian (Persian) Gulf has a thick shallow layer of finely interbedded anhydrites and shales known as the Lower Fars Formation. Because these interbeds absorb energy and generate interbed multiples, the southern Arabian Gulf is a challenging area in which to acquire high‐resolution surface seismic data.
