Abstract

Summary form only given. AM-VSB CATV transport systems can use a wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) technique to increase channel capacity. Crosstalk exists which is mainly caused by stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) and cross-phase modulation (XPM) interaction. This study presents a two-wavelength WDM externally modulated transport system which used a chirped fiber grating (CFG) as a dispersion compensation device to reduce the XPM-induced crosstalk. Good performances of carrier-to- noise ratio (CNR), composite second order (CSO) and composite triple beat (CTB) were obtained in this proposed system over a 100-km SMF transport. This technique will benefit the deployment of WDM transport systems.
