Abstract

This paper presents a general formula for the cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antennas configuration at a mobile in indoor propagation environment. A statistical distribution indoor model is developed to character the transmission of vertically and horizontally polarized incident waves uniformly distributed in the elevation and azimuth planes. By jointly using the proposed formula and statistical model, the effect of some parameters on XPD is analyzed numerically. The obtained XPD values vary approximately from 5 to 11 dB, which are consistent with the measured results in indoor environment. For antennas inclination, deviation angles have little effect on the XPD in indoor rich multipath environment, but effect does exist.
