Abstract

Magnetic structures of Pt 100- X Fe X ( X =16, 18, 24 and 25) alloys were studied by means of neutron elastic and inelastic scattering. Non-collinear antiferromagnetic structure is experimentally verified for the ground state of the stoichiometric alloy Pt 3 Fe. The antiferromagnetic phase transition below T N in Pt 3 Fe alloy is considered to be one of the crossover points of the antiferromagnetic spin correlations which show successive change towards the original point of the reciprocal lattice with increasing Fe concentration in the wide concentration range of the Pt–Fe system.
