Abstract

AbstractPossible structural variation of a bio‐based dimethacrylate derived from oleic acid and ethylene glycol is discussed as well as sources to obtain the starting material for manufacturing this monomer. Introduction of an aromatic structure either as a bridge between the two ester structures formed or as a substituent is expected to influence the properties of both the monomer and polymer made of it, for example, by photoinitiated polymerization. Furthermore, aspects influencing the transfer of a new product are included in the discussion as well to increase the interest of researchers working in the industry on manufacturing a new product and its development for the market.
