Abstract
We propose and analyze a novel method of reducing cross-talk noise in angle-multiplexed volume holographic optical storage. The method records each hologram by using a reference beam that extends uniformly within a narrow spatial frequency bandwidth but reads the memory by using a plane wave. Our result shows that the signal-to-noise ratio obtained by the proposed method can be 20 dB higher than that obtained by the conventional method with planar reference waves. In addition, the extended reference method has a larger tolerance for angle misalignment during readout than the conventional method. Results of numerical simulation are presented and discussed.
