H. H. ; Richter, A. ; Schrieder, G. ; Seegebarth, K. Abstract An experiment has been conducted in order to furnish new data for an estimate of the influence of electron-induced processes in the formation of B-11 from C-12 at astrophysical sites having large densities of high energy electrons. The cross section for the C-12(e, p)B-12 reaction has been measured at incident electron energies of 21, 25, 35, 45, and 55 MeV at the detection angles of 55, 90 and 125 deg. It is concluded that in cosmic sources with a high energy proton flux that is small by comparison with the total electron flux, the electrospallation and photospallation cross sections are not negligible, although the present data give an electroproduction cross section for B-11 that is lower than recent theoretical results by a factor of 2.
