Abstract

In schizophrenia (SCZ), measures of regulator of G protein signaling 4 (RGS4) have been reported to be lower (in many but not all studies) in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), a critical node in the cortical visuospatial working memory (WM) network. However, the extent to which RGS4 mRNA expression is affected in other regions of this network has not been examined. In addition, RGS4 levels have been quantified in the DLPFC of bipolar disorder (BPD) or major depressive disorder (MDD) subjects, but the extent to which RGS4 mRNA expression is affected in each diagnosis has not been directly investigated.
