Abstract
In Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), the nodes are powered with an insufficient battery capacity and owing to this reason sometime the nodes are not able to transmit or receive the packets from their neighbouring nodes. So, network lifetime enhancement with minimal energy utilization over the network is one of the primary challenges while developing the routing protocols for MANET. Thus, in this paper an energy constrained honeycomb routing algorithm based on cross layer parameters has been proposed for MANET. The algorithm concentrates on the energy optimization on different layers by considering, MAC queue utilization, link expiration time and Expected transmission time. Moreover the algorithm selects the optimal path after discovering the several routes using the honeycomb routing which is the enhancement of AODV protocol. The simulation results show that the proposed routing scheme for increasing the network lifetime has been performed better than the existing routing schemes in terms of the packet delivery ratio, throughput, network lifetime and delay
