Abstract

In two interlocking studies, we examine the relationships between cross-domain communication and technology usage, the bi-directional forms of work-family conflict and facilitation, and life satisfaction. In Study 1, we develop and validate the scale of cross-domain communication. We extend our model in Study 2 to consider (a) the influences of both cross-domain communication and cross-domain technology usage on work- family conflict and work-family facilitation, (b) the moderating effects of job and family involvement on the relationships between cross-domain communication technology and the work-family interface, and (c) the mediating effects of work- family conflict and facilitation on the relationships between cross-domain communication and technology usage and life satisfaction.
