Abstract

Abstract Nowadays, the condition-based maintenance is associated more and more to the railway transport to improve the security, availability, reliability and capacity of this transport mean, and to reduce life cycle costs for the railway vehicle. The condition-based maintenance requires that the vehicle components to be replaced based on their real condition, which implies the fault detection and isolation during the trains operation. In this paper, the acceleration of a two-axle bogie running on the random irregularity of a straight track are calculated to obtain the cross-correlation function between them. It is shown that the main feature of the acceleration cross-correlation function can be associate to the damper failure in the bogie suspension.
