Abstract

There is a wide consensus that anterior and posterior crossbite (AXB / PXB) should be corrected early and that the first stage of the mixed dentition may be the best time to correct not only the occlusion of permanent molars and/or incisors, but also the maxillary deficiency / narrow palate and the mandibular shift often associated to the A/PXB.Many methods have been proposed in the literature aimed to correct AXB and PXB. In this paper a new, or at least uncommon, method will be presented to correct AXB and/or PXB in the mixed dentition, paying special attention to many important and often not considered details concerning the diagnosis and the orthopedic and orthodontic procedures, respecting periodontal, dental health and predictability of the results.
