Abstract

The paper presents an age invariant face recognition model using center symmetric local pattern selection (CS-LPS) algorithm. The facial appearance can change as age progresses and this is one of the most challenging factors in ageing face recognition. In this paper a combination of two methods ie., HOG and CS-LPS are used so that the structural as well as the intensity information of an image is obtained. A binary tree structure is used for dimensionality reduction. The reduced data is given to a logistic regression classifier in which the test data is also compared. The dataset used in this paper is Cross-age celebrity dataset (CACD) which includes 163, 446 images from 2000 celebrities. A significant improvement in accuracy can be seen in this method.
