Abstract
Experiments with 3 levels of soil salinity, 4 levels of ground water irrigation and 3 leveles of fertilizer application were carried out in Nanpi Station, CAS, China from 1991 to 1994. The results obtained are as follows. 1. During crop cultivation, the mildly salinized soil with salt content of 0.11%–0.28% went on desalinization at average rate of 0.0125% per year. 2. The original salt content in soil had an influence on desalinization rate. With an increase of salt in soil, the desalinization rate increased. The effects of fertilizer and irrigation on the changes of salt in soil were complex and variations were significant. 3. During winter wheat growing season (from Oct. to next June, it is the dry season), salts in soil moved upward and accumulated on the upper layers (0–40 cm) of the soil. During summer season (July to Sep., it is the rainy season of the year), the salt moved down to the deeper soil (120–160cm). 4. The different salt ions had different movement rate in soil layers. The movement rate of Cl- was higher than that of SO42- and HCO3-, and Na+, K+, and Mg2+, moved more quickly than Ca2+.
