Abstract

This article offers a linguistic and stylistic analysis of Tunisian Francophone literature focused on the creative practices of plurilingualism. I specifically aim to elucidate the modalities and expressions of plurilingual writing and its hermeneutic power. To this end, I identify and parse the use and reception of foreign languages, particularly the Arabic language, in two poetry collections, Portrait du poète en soufi (2014) by Abdelwahab Meddeb and Prière du vieux maître soufi le lendemain de la fête (2010) by Jalel El Gharbi. Ultimately, I will demonstrate that the linguistic creations bringing this practice into play govern, to varying degrees, a plurilingual hermeneutics to be defined.
