Abstract

The massive attacks made by Soviet philosophers on the philosophers and philosophic systems of the non-Communist world contain a wealth of information on the exact conception which contemporary Soviet philosophers have of their own system. This seems due to two causes. First, these attacks are officially sanctioned and encouraged by the ideological pontiffs and political leaders. As a result, ‘inaccuracies’ in the presentation of Marxism-Leninism — which are often fruitful developments of dialectical materialism and, therefore, would hardly be allowed in a non-polemical context — are passed over for the sake of victory. In the second place, the need of meeting and defeating other philosophies puts the Soviet philosopher in the presence of philosophical problems with which he is unfamiliar or which he has not been able to openly discuss since they were not mentioned by the classical sources.1 KeywordsSubjective IdealismObjective IdealismPhilosophic ViewPhilosophic SystemDialectical MaterialismThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
