Abstract

New critical curves and hysteresis loops for a single layer magnetic thin film are calculated on a rectangular coordinate (Hx, Hi). Hi is the inhomogeneous internal field caused by the current passed through the film and Hx is the field parallel to the easy direction of magnetization. In this case direction of the spins varies within the film plane, and the single domain model cannot be used. The film is divided into multi-layers and the spin distribution is solved numerically using the variational method. It is shown that there exists a region where the fan-shaped spin configuration like the Bloch wall twists by more than 180 degree, and also that the critical switching curves change severely with the film thichness.
