Abstract

The Zisman plot was prepared based on the contact angles of sulfide minerals determined using the sessile drop method. The estimated critical surface tension of wetting (ϓcw) was slightly smaller than that of floating (ϓcf), estimated based on natural floatability. However, the order of the ϓcf values, i.e. pyrite > sphalerite > galena > chalcopyrite, estimated from natural floatability, corresponded to that of the ϓcw values obtained from the Zisman plot using the contact angles . Thus, research on critical surface tension using the above-mentioned results should provide meaningful material for the flotation separation of complex sulfide minerals.
