Abstract

The response of a hard type II superconducting disc under quasi-static rotation of the applied magnetic field is studied. Field profiles of the y and z components as well as those of the total field are obtained. The field orientations of various flux-sheets are also studied for different orientations of the applied field. We have used the additional criterion of flux-change-minimization along with the original Bean's critical state model. The procedure involves minimizing certain variational functional subject to the constraint | J|= J c. A self-consistent solution of the relevant set of equations obtained from the minimization procedure has lead us to the final solution. Our results compare well with the corresponding experimental results.
