Abstract

The system investigated in this paper incorporates a gear-pair which has a velocity ratio which is nominally n: 1 but which in fact varies periodically with rotation, performing p cycles of its variation per revolution of the input shaft. In this analysis, n and p are arbitrary and so the results presented here are effectively a generalization of those previously obtained for a Hooke’s joint system for which n = 1 and p = 2.
