Abstract

1. Slip in 3% silicon-iron single crystals during extension in the directions 〈151〉 and 〈111〉 takes place on the system {110} 〈111〉, while during extension in the direction 〈331〉 it occurs on the {110} and {112} planes, and in the direction 〈111〉 with one system of the type {110} 〈111〉) predominating. 2. The critical shear stresses τcr for the slip direction 〈111〉 and the planes {110} and {112} vary between 9.5–10 and 11–11.3 kg/mm2, respectively. 3. The development of plastic flow in single crystals takes place by the movement of Luders-Chernov bands along the specimen and their propagation by the transverse slip mechanism.
