Abstract
In this paper I critically reflect upon how I went about employing an authentic teaching model in South Africa. Throughout the reflection, I incorporate the model's themes of context, other, self and relationships. I share challenges I faced as well as lessons learned throughout the experience. I conclude by offering implications for other university instructors who choose to employ this approach and thereby become more reflective in their teaching.
