Abstract
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is an area that has become tolerated or even accepted by most conventional health care professionals and favoured by many consumers. Yet, critical thinkers might find it hard not to note the many problems and contradictions in this field. This article is an attempt to explore some of the problems that exist in current CAM advocacy and research. For the most part, these reflections are based on the author's 20 years of experience as a CAM researcher rather than on citable evidence.
