Abstract

The FMR fine structure of the first-order Suhl instability has been investigated in YIG spheres at room and helium temperature. Several series of closely spaced resonances were observed and analyzed in terms of spherical modes. Different types of critical modes resulting in contrasting dynamic behaviours, can be attributed to competing damping mechanisms.
