Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study of the critical flashover (CFO) voltage of a single fiberglass distribution line pole and its combination with polymer and porcelain insulators. Special attention was made to evaluate the added CFO by the fiberglass distribution pole to the insulators as a second component in the distribution line pole structure. A discussion of the results follows the data obtained. For composite distribution line insulation, a comparison of CFO and added CFO voltages by traditional wood and fiberglass distribution line poles is presented. The tests were conducted in the High Voltage Laboratory at Mississippi State University.
