Abstract
Thermal stability of some simple steady viscous flows of a reactive fluid with heated boundaries is investigated; only flows which are known exact solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations are considered. Two approaches are used: (i) a perturbation series about the inviscid solution; and, briefly, (ii) a step-function approximation to the reaction rate term. Results for the critical value of the Frank-Kameneskii parameter and the critical maximum temperature are presented and compared.
