Abstract

We discuss the critical behaviour of a) a two-level system and b) a particle moving in a periodic potential, both coupled linearly to a dissipative bosonic heat bath. A systematic renormalization group analysis is carried out on both systems around the point where a localization transition takes place. For the two-level system results beyond the weak coupling regime are obtained by means of bosonization. For the case b) the dynamics along the transition line is solved and the order parameter (mobility) is computed exactly.
