Abstract

The critical exponents (γ SR and γ SR) for spin reorientation (SR) phase transitions in hard intermetallics (Er x RE 1− x ) 2 Fe 14B have been determined from ac susceptibility (χ H ) measurements. For Dy series conical (C) and planar phases are observed, and for the Nd ones, two C phases. A model of scaling of χ H is developed, taking the magnetization cone angle θ as the order parameter, and a critical exponent, ω SR = γ SR − β SR is introduced.
