Abstract

The field and temperature dependence of the nonlinear magnetic response of a reentrant (PdFe)Mn alloy has been investigated within the reentrant phase with an ac SQUID susceptometer operating at 16 Hz. Comparison with numerical simulations based on a mean-field effective-field Ising model with a reentrant phase boundary indicates that the experimental susceptibility isotherms possess several features which may be critical in origin, and suggests a potentially valuable criterion for recognizing critically reentrant behavior.
