Abstract
Torture constitutes a serious crime with traumatic physical and psychological consequences. The ban on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment is well articulated in national and international instruments. For those who have suffered torture and their families, finding ways to move forward with their lives and forget about the trauma inflicted on them is a lifelong challenge and the only way to find closure is to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. The importance of justice and reparation is recognised as a right of victims. Against this backdrop, the article analyses remedial approaches available to the victims that seek for redress against torture and injustice. The article concludes by advocating for total eradication of torture and adequate compensation for the victims of torture.
