Abstract

The formation of scientific concepts, a problem that has become classic for psychology, has been studied by many well-known psychologists: Jean Piaget, L. S. Vygotsky, D. N. Uznadze, N. A. Menchinskaya, and others. The work of V. V. Davydov has also made an important contribution to the study of this problem; he established the principles of discriminating between theoretical (substantive) and empirical (formal) generalizations and the two types of concepts corresponding to them [1]. He clearly showed that a child's learning of theoretical substantive concepts is the principal condition for the formation of the foundations of scientific thought in the strict sense.
